How We Support Children
Our Early Childhood Mental Health (ECMH) consultants provide social and emotional support to children ages 0-6, families and caregivers in early childhood care settings. We partner with childcare teachers to provide a positive, emotionally healthy classroom environment where children can be successful. Our comprehensive approach to support a constructive, trauma-informed environment for educators will directly influence the long-term transformation of students.
We also assist families in learning about early childhood development and how to promote healthy social and emotional skills at home. St. Vincent Family Services offers families a comprehensive, full-service range of youth behavioral health services, depending on the child’s age, including telehealth, 24/7 residential care, individual and family counseling, and in-home and in-school care – all guided by our behavioral health professionals.

“I have observed positive changes with our children’s emotional and social development in school as a result of participating in SVFS’ dinosaur school program. St. Vincent Family Services provides support to our parents, staff and to me as an administrator. SVFS has added a great value to our program and to the services we provide to the children and families in the community.”

Grief Support Program
New Group starting in February! To learn more, complete this brief interest form or contact us directly at (740) 513-5572 or email@example.com.
Loss is difficult. For young children who can’t appropriately express their grief, it can be even more challenging.
SVFS’ Grief Support Program offers a 6-session virtual series of grief education and skill-building groups delivered by our Early Childhood Mental Health Consultants. Groups are designed for children ages 3-5 and their caregivers who have experienced grief and loss due to the death of someone close to them.
SVFS Grief Support Groups will:
- Normalize discussion about death and loss
- Answer children’s questions and provide answers that minimize their feelings of fear and worry
- Engage children and their caregivers in activities to both process and preserve meaningful memories of the deceased
- Empower and equip caregivers to help their children successfully navigate the stages of grief
SVFS’ Grief Support Groups are FREE to families. Activities, books and supplies are provided free of charge by SVFS. Gift cards will also be raffled off during each session.
If you think SVFS’ Grief Support Groups may be a good fit for your family, complete this brief interest form and our team will connect with you.

“The children were completely engaged in decorating their memory boxes, using paint, stickers, and construction paper to honor their people. The caregivers supported their children and shared their own memories, too. It was such a powerful activity that empowered families to connect and talk about their person and death without hesitation or fear and begin to remember them in a fun and joyful way.”
