How We Support Families
Residential Care treatment is available for children ages 5 to 12 whose behaviors present a danger to themselves or others at home, in school or in the community.
After families have demonstrated that less intensive interventions have not been successful in changing their child’s behavior, our team will suggest Residential Care. Children served through this program usually have chronic and severe emotional, social and/or behavioral problems, which result from a primary psychiatric diagnosis; have a history of not responding to traditional outpatient treatment or short-term acute hospitalization programs; and have a history of treatment resistance, failed foster care placements and/or multiple inpatient stays.
Our goal is to stabilize the child’s behavior so that they are no longer a danger to themselves or others. While children in residential treatment are closely supervised 24 hours a day, we are not a locked facility. We ensure families are very involved in this treatment process by participating in therapy sessions with their children.
