Making a Lasting Impact One Family at a Time

For more than 150 years, St. Vincent Family Services (SVFS) has served Ohio’s youth on our Near East Side campus and in dozens of neighborhoods across Columbus. What started as an orphanage is now a leading pediatric behavioral health provider, serving children and families through early childhood mental health services, counseling and therapy, community-based services, residential care, foster care and day treatment at our trauma-informed accredited school, St. Vincent Prep Academy.

In recent years, our team of behavioral health practitioners has seen an increased demand for pediatric services. To meet this demand, our team embarked on a journey to create a Same-Day Access program, which provides immediate, walk-in intake assessments for youth and families in need. In its first month, the Same-Day Access Intake led to a 26% increase in families seen. This is just the beginning of the lasting impact our Same-Day Access Intake will have in central Ohio, and one of the many accomplishments achieved by SVFS in 2023 alongside our valued partners.

Overall, SVFS’ talented staff delivered quality, trauma-informed behavioral health services to nearly 8,000 youth, families, and partners in 2023.

  • St. Vincent Prep Academy, Residential Treatment, Foster Care, Counseling and Community-Based Services impacted 900 clients and families.
  • Prevention programming funded by the ADAMH Board of Franklin County served 1,947 youth across Franklin County.
  • Early Childhood Mental Health Services were delivered to 5,029 youth ages 0-6, families and teachers in early learning centers across Franklin County through comprehensive programming, consultation, and training, ultimately preparing youth with social-emotional and kindergarten readiness skills.
  • Children and families were paired with SVFS for trusted care by 130 community-based referral partners.

These impactful results occur thanks to the commitment of our dedicated team and supportive partners who believe in trauma-informed care. We renew our commitment annually to deepen our practice of being a trauma-informed agency that focuses on staff wellness, so we can bring our best selves for the children and families we serve.

In 2023, SVFS established a partnership with The Ohio State University College of Nursing to offer on-site integrative health services to our staff and clients, which expands our current offerings to include primary care services such as routine physical exams, treatment of acute health conditions, immunizations and preventative health and wellness exams for our 150+ staff and thousands of clients. We are thrilled that this partnership will make it easier for our staff and clients to adopt wellness and healing in all aspects, and we plan to extend these offerings to the local community later this year.

St. Vincent Family Services looks forward to serving even more children and families in 2024!
